BeGreen Dunbar supports Jingle Bags

30th October 2017

We are very excited to announce that our appeal for help filling our Jingle Bags has received a massive boost. BeGreen Dunbar, funded in its entirety by Community Windpower, the operators of Aikengall Wind Farm have provided a very generous donation of £3,000. This substantial contribution will go a long way towards ensuring that every person/family referred to us in December will receive a jingle bag containing everything needed for Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Christmas can be a particularly hard time of year for those who are struggling with their finances or to feed themselves and their families and the number of referrals to the East Lothian Foodbank generally increases during the winter months – with a significant increase in the two weeks leading up to Christmas. During December 2016, we provided 175 3-day emergency food parcels to those in crisis across East Lothian, feeding 473 people, 204 of whom were children.

We hope our Jingle Bags will bring some Christmas cheer to families experiencing food poverty at Christmas.

Again we would like to say a huge thank you to BeGreen Dunbar for their continued support* as we help those across East Lothian who find themselves experiencing food crises.

If you would like to help us fill our jingle bags you can download a shopping list here. Donations can be handed into the foodbank, or give us a call on 07516 510 617 if you have difficulty getting to us. As we will start giving our jingle bags out on 1st December we would like as many jingle bag donations as possible in by the end of November.

Thank you for your support,

The Foodbank Team

*BeGreen Dunbar are a great supporter of the foodbank and previously awarded a grant of £8000 which is allowing us to supply Get Fresh Bonus Bags to families in need across the county.
