Jingle bags ready to go in December 2017

Not everyone looks forward to Christmas. Here at the Foodbank we know that Christmas can be a particularly hard time of year for those who are struggling financially, and struggling to feed themselves and their families.

Last year we wanted to do something for those who found themselves using the foodbank in December which would help on Christmas Day. For this reason, we launched our Jingle Bags appeal with the aim of bringing a wee bit Christmas cheer when people need it most.

Our Jingle Bags contained everything needed to celebrate Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Everyone who was referred for a food parcel in the run up to Christmas received a Jingle Bag in addition to their standard 3-day emergency food parcel. We gave out 272 Jingle Bags in 2017.

We could not have done it without the generosity of people in East Lothian who responded to our call for jingle bag donations or without our army of volunteers who put in extra hours, packing jingle bags with Christmas goodies and making them look festive.

We need your help as we want to do it again please.

If you’d like to know how to help us fill our  jingle bags head over to jingle bag page for everything you need to know.
