East Lothian shoppers come up trumps

23rd May 2017

Once again the Foodbank is STUFFED to the gunnels with fantastic donations from the public in East Lothian.

Last Wednesday we held the first of 2 spring/summer collections in the Tesco stores in East Lothian (Haddington, North Berwick and Musselburgh) and generous shoppers donated a massive 3310 kilos of non-perishable food. Our band of volunteers have now started on the mammoth task of sorting and dating the donations so that we can get everything onto the shelves.

This collection came just as some of our supplies were running very low with practically no fruit or cereal left so we’re now happy to report that stocks have been replenished thanks to the public (again!). We really couldn’t help those in need without the generous support of all those who donate to us whether it is one can or a bag of shopping every item helps.

We would like to thank all our volunteers, Dunbar Rotary, North Berwick Rotary and the Abbey Church, and Musselburgh Rotary for their continued support collecting donationsĀ at the stores.

A very special thank you goes to the guys and gals at Wood Pellets East Lothian for collecting and delivering the donations to the foodbank.

We’ll carry on with the sorting…
