Our Board of Trustees

Simon Ray
Simon is a newcomer to East Lothian, having moved up from Sussex in July 2023. His background in retail finance provided him with experience in organisational design, change management and operational risk management among others, all underpinned by his passion for “problem solving”. He started volunteering as a driver in October of that year and joined the Board in April 2024.

Jackie Burman
Jackie moved to East Lothian over 30 years ago, working with the Citizens Advice service and later the NHS. After retiring she wanted to get involved in providing direct help and support to people; she started volunteering at the Foodbank in September 2022, in the warehouse and on deliveries, and joined the Board in April 2024.

Hector Kilpatrick
An East Lothian resident for over 20 years, Hector has taken a keen interest in the foodbank since its inception, predominantly as a result of his wife's earlier involvement in its early years. Hector's background is in finance and investment management and so his focus at the foodbank has been to support the finance function and drive greater financial resilience. Hector joined the Board in November 2023.

Ann Allison
Ann is a retired Church of Scotland minister, with a passion for justice especially regarding food insecurity & homelessness. Our Safeguarding Trustee since last year, Ann joined the Board in February 2023.

Nigel Schofield
Having started volunteering in the warehouse in May 2023, Nigel became a Trustee in August 2024. Motivated by the feeling that it is wrong that people don’t have enough money for essentials, Nigel chose East Lothian Foodbank due to its links with the Trussell Trust whose mission is to end the need for foodbanks.

Hannah Nelson
Hannah has worked within the third sector for over six years and started as the Director of Income Generation for Bethany Christian Trust in 2023 with responsibility for fundraising, marketing, and the charity’s retail presence. Originally from Greater Glasgow, she has lived in Edinburgh since 2011 and joined our Board in January 2025.
