Something about my past/present
Originally from Inverness. Newly retired after a career at the University of Cambridge where I taught in the Pharmacology Department. I was also a Fellow and Tutor at Wolfson College. Took the big leap and moved to Haddington in 2022 and now enjoying my East Lothian life!
What brought me to the Foodbank?
I had volunteered at a foodbank in Cambridge and found it a challenging but rewarding volunteer experience. On moving to East Lothian I picked up the advert about board membership as I was keen to continue my foodbank interaction and I was delighted to be invited to join the team. I now also volunteer in the warehouse every week and also do a few deliveries – great hands on experience.

A comment about poverty and hunger in East Lothian
The Trussell Trust has shown that inadequate benefits are the main reason that our clients require the services of the food bank. This must be addressed if we are ever going to meet our desired aim of no one requiring our services.
