Meet our Trustees

Nathan Goode

Something about your past/present

I am Head of Data and Analytics at the Social Value Portal, a company established to help organisations measure and report on their social value, using an open source valuation methodology and a cloud-based reporting platform. Previously, I was a consultant and financial adviser working on infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients for over 20 years, latterly as a partner at the accounting firm Grant Thornton leading their renewable energy, cleantech and sustainability team.

What brought you to the foobank?

When we moved back to East Lothian in early 2019, I wanted to find ways of supporting local communities. My wife, Rae, has already joined as a trustee and I could see how busy she was. I thought I could add business management experience to the board, so I put myself forward.

A comment about poverty and hunger in East Lothian

Sadly, we live in a country where inequality and deprivation are endemic, wherever you go, even in a supposedly wealthy county such as East Lothian. It was bad enough before the pandemic, which we all know has made things far worse. We know food banks are not the answer but hopefully we can help relieve this very basic stress in people’s lives while others find the longer term solutions.
